Our 2022 Hottest Zip Codes list just dropped, and it’s packed with useful info you’ll want to know and share with prospective clients. Explore the full report and see what it means for you as a real estate professional.
What’s hot this year?
Declining affordability across the board is pushing cost-conscious buyers into markets that offer more value for money. This year’s top ten list includes a mix of lower-priced zips near high-priced metros, higher-priced zips in low-priced metros, and some overall affordable areas. Notably, eight of the ten hottest zip codes on the list are in the northeast where New England in particular seems to be an attractive spot for buyers, and the west is not represented as affordability concerns have bumped buyer interest elsewhere. On the whole, these hot zips tend to offer more space, and homes in these areas aren’t on the market for very long. The three cities topping our list this year are:
- Brighton, NY 14618. This neighborhood is a beautiful spot for families, it’s got a median listing price of $275K, and it’s just a quick drive to downtown Rochester. Interestingly, the #2 ranking in our hottest zip codes list for 2021 was another neighboring Rochester zip code—a sign that the area remains an appealing place for buyers.
- Nashua, NH 03062. This picturesque town with a median listing price of $536K is a 45-minute commute to Boston, and it’s getting a lot of attention from home shoppers looking for more affordable homes that are still near the city.
- Worthington, OH 43085. Located right near Columbus, this town offers buyers the best of Ohio’s largest city with a median listing price of $467K.

How are the hottest zip codes determined?
Our rankings are based on an algorithm that takes into account market demand as measured by unique viewers per property and the pace of the market as measured by the number of days a listing remains active on Realtor.com. The hottest areas are those that have high demand from buyers as well as fast-selling homes—an indicator of limited supply.
